Friday, March 7th, 2008

Hello again!!!

Just wanted to let you guys know that PC-BSD 1.5 Edison edition will be coming out next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, i know you’re all exited so let me give you some further info :)

Here are some of the changes that have been made since 1.4 came out:

  • Xorg 7.3.
  • KDE 3.5.8.
  • FreeBSD 6.3 Release.
  • Latest ports as of 2-22-08.
  • NEW System Updater tool – Keeps system & PBIs up to date – Allows override variables, so that admins can use their own mirrors / servers to roll out updates to users.
  • Improvements to WiFi tool, BSSID support and better SSID support.
  • Improvements to the PBI Removal tool – Remove a list of PBIs at a time.
  • NEW sound detection program! Uses XML backend to identify and load modules.
  • NEW amd64 build of 1.5, including PBI that are on our auto-build server.
  • NEW PBI icon preview library, now a PBI file shows the icon embedded in it on your desktop, not the generic “PBI” format icon.

You can also pre-order it at freebsdmall.com

Here’s a pic of what it’s going to look like:

Anyway, don’t wait too long… go ahead and buy this two disc set and you’ll be all set :)

WINE

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Hello my friends,

I wanted to share with you guys how exited i am to be using “Wine” yes using it not drinking it… haha.. ok that was not funny but anyways…. for those of you that may not know, Wine is a compatibility layer for running Windows programs. Wine does not require Microsoft Windows, as it is a completely free alternative implementation of the Windows API consisting of 100% non-Microsoft code. You can download it for free from our pbi website pbidir.com

So basically the reason why i’m so exited to be using this program is because it allows me to watch videos, listen to music, and visit websites that require Flash 9 which we don’t have yet :( I was bummed when i tried to listen yahoo music and i couldn’t because yahoo music isn’t compatible with firefox,it asked for internet explorer…so screw that. Sometimes i get very frustrated because big websites like yahoo should be compatible with all browsers and sadly that is not the case :(

I guess i don’t have anything else to say for the moment, just wanted to check in and write about my experiences with PC-BSD!

P.S.

I just moved into my new apartment and it ROCKS!!!!!!! I absolutely love it!!!!!!!!! It’s a 8 story brand new apartment building near downtown so i do get a little view of the city and whatnot…
